Ski flying mecca Planica: Peeing wins, Insam with mediocre quality

Men and women are currently in Planica, where the ski flying world cups are taking place. While the female ski jumpers completed a competition on Thursday, the men's “only” qualification was on the agenda.

Eva Pinkelnig won the normal hill jump (HS 102) in Planica. The Austrian won ahead of Alexandria Loutitt (CAN) and Nika Prevc (SLO). The best Azzurra was Annika Sieff in 17th place. Lara Malsiner (26th) from Val Gardena also scored a few World Cup points.

The men, on the other hand, flew from the ski flying hill (HS 240), which is more than twice as large. The best qualifying candidate was Ryoyu Kobayashi from Japan. However, the highest distance of the day was achieved by the Pole Piotr Zyla (2nd), who sailed to 241 meters - although with some problems when landing, which cost him points. The Ukrainian Yevhen Marusiak, who took 5th place, caused a big surprise.

Alex Insam from Val Gardena was unable to break the 200 meter mark in qualifying. The South Tyrolean finished his flying in 33rd place. In the end, Insam had 195,5 meters to his name.
