Tomorrow, Yanick Gunsch (left) and Dominik Zuech want to do better and confirm their outstanding qualifying performances.

First the surprise, then the disillusionment

On Friday, Yanick Gunsch from Val Venosta made people sit up and take notice with the best time in the second qualifying race for the World Cup in Bakuriani (Georgia). However, there was little to gain from the World Cup race on Saturday.

Yanick Gunsch from Matsch and Dominik Zuech from Lana qualified on Friday with places 23 and 14 confident for today's World Cup race in Bakuriani. Shortly afterwards, Gunsch made a big impression with the best time in qualifying for tomorrow's World Cup race (see own report). Zuech also impressed and took 6th place.

In the end, there was little to gain in the first World Cup race this Saturday. Both failed in the round of 4. Gunsch ended up in 3th and last place in his “heat”, Zuech missed the quarter-final qualification with 28rd place. Gunsch ended up in 19th place, Zuech in 4th place. The Swede David Mobaerg won the “Big Final” of the best 10 ahead of Florian Wilmsmann from Germany and Alex Fiva from Switzerland. Simone Deromedis was the only Azzurro to make it to the quarterfinals and took XNUMXth place.

Tomorrow the 2nd World Cup race in Bakuriani is on the program. Gunsch and Zuech want to confirm their good quality performances. The round of 32 of the best 8 starts at XNUMX a.m. (CET).
