Zuech fails in the round of 16

There was little to gain for Dominik Zuech on Saturday at the Ski Cross World Cup in Alleghe.

Zuech had managed to qualify for the round of 32 of the best 27, but then the 30-year-old from Lana was immediately eliminated. Ultimately he was ranked 19th. The second Azzurro in the knockout round, Federico Tomasoni, also failed in the round of XNUMX. He ended up in XNUMXth place.

The victory went to Canadian Reece Howden. He was able to prevail in the final of the best four ahead of Florian Wilmsmann from Germany. Third place went to the Austrian Johannes Aujesky. The Swiss Alex Fiva narrowly missed the podium in 4th place. Yannik Gunsch from Matsch, however, was not at the start. The Vinschger is currently struggling with back problems.

There was a Canadian double victory in the women's category: Marielle Thompson won the final ahead of her compatriot Brittany Phelan. The Frenchwoman Marielle Berger Sabbatel completed the podium. The Canadian Hannah Schmidt came in 4th place. There were no Azzurre among the women.
