Coratti and Ochner reach the podium

In the mixed team competition in the parallel slalom, two duos from Italy's snowboard selection reached the semi-finals. Nadya Ochner/Edwin Coratti and Lucia Dalmasso/Marc Hofer determined a finalist in a direct duel. The ticket for the big showdown was finally won by the experienced Ochner and Coratti, Dalmasso and Hofer, who sensationally achieved his first World Cup victory on Saturday, remained the small finale. In the last knockout round, the Azzurri had to admit defeat - twice against Austria. Dalmasso/Hofer lost the duel for third place against Sabine Schöffmann and Alexander Payer. In the following final, Ochner and Coratti lost out to Daniela Ulbing and Olympic champion Benjamin Karl. The victory was only awarded in the last gates, when Ochner threw everything into the balance to make up for a small deficit, but then fell and saw her Austrian competitor cross the finish line safely. Ochner breaks the spell, Coratti celebrates its premiere But Ochner and Coratti still had reason to be happy: With their second place, they achieved Italy's first podium finish in the mixed team competition in two years. At the same time, this is the 100th podium for Italy's winter athletes this season across all disciplines. The 28-year-old Ochner also ended a dry spell that had lasted more than two years in Piancavallo, as she last made it to the podium in February 2020 in South Korea. This is Coratti's 13th World Cup and second of the weekend, after finishing second behind Hofer in the parallel slalom on Saturday. At the same time, however, it is also a first for the Langtaufer native, as he has never been in the top three in the team competition. The alpine snowboard circus is now moving to Slovenia, where the penultimate World Cup stage will take place on Wednesday in Rogla.
