Season premiere: Vötter/Oberhofer are at the top

Here's the thing: In the sixth race of the season, the reigning overall World Cup winners Andrea Vötter and Marion Oberhofer took their first victory.

After a total of four podium finishes, Vötter/Oberhofer made it to the top podium for the first time this winter on Saturday in Altenberg. This means that the two South Tyroleans also take the lead in the overall World Cup from Jessica Degenhardt and Cheyenne Rosenthal, who had to settle for 5th place.

But the season is still only half over and the lead in the overall World Cup is only a narrow one. The decisive factor on Saturday was an excellent second run for Vötter and Oberhofer. In the first round they were only in fourth place. In the end, Vötter/Oberhofer took their first win of the season in a confident manner.

By the way: There was also a podium finish to celebrate in the men's doubles on Saturday. Emanuel Rieder and Simon Kainzwaldner took third place in Altenberg. Dominik Firiegeller, however, missed the podium (SportNews berichtete).
