This week the winter sports heart beats in South Tyrol

Traditionally, the Ski World Cup stops in Val Gardena and Alta Badia in the week before Christmas. This year there will be three speed races on the Saslong because the descent from Beaver Creek will be made up there. That's why two winter sports world cups will be held almost simultaneously in South Tyrol this Thursday. The parallel snowboarders can be seen at the Karerpass almost at the same hour.

After the 2nd Val Gardena downhill run on Saturday, the ski circus moves on to Alta Badia. There will be two giant slalom races on the Gran Risa again this year (Sunday and Monday). But the European Cup is also visiting South Tyrol these days. On Thursday, the second-class racing series traditionally stops in Obereggen. The Maierl slope there has long been a cult favorite for slalom skiers and attracts a top-class field of participants to the Eggental every year.

The women's European Cup slalom in Ahrntal was actually supposed to take place last week. Due to the warm temperatures, the two races had to be postponed to this Friday and Saturday. The biathletes are also in South Tyrol this week - namely at the second-class IBU Cup in Ridnaun.

South Tyrol's sports fans are spoiled for choice. A total of 6 World Cup and 3 European Cup races plus 6 IBU competitions will take place at six different locations - from Thursday to Monday. Next week the ski crossers will also be visiting this country - in San Candido.
