Winter triathlon: Sandra Mairhofer wins the world title

Sandra Mairhofer has been one of the absolute world leaders in winter triathlon for years. In Pragelato she secured her third world title and also victory in the relay.

Yesterday, Saturday, the 31-year-old's hour came in Pragelato (Sestriere) in Piedmont. At the elite women's world championship, the sports teacher from Taisten confidently won the gold medal and thus her third world title.

After egg After a 4 km run, a 6 km long cycle route on a mountain bike and the final 6 km cross-country run (all to be completed twice), the 31-year-old came out ahead of her closest pursuers in 1:50.32 hours. Czech Aneta Grabmüller Soldieri (1:52.14) and Julie Meinicke from Norway (1:58.30) completed the podium. Second best Azzurra was Bianca Morvillo in sixth place.

This Sunday, too, everything went smoothly for the leader of the winter triathlon classification. In the mixed relay, the Pustertal native and Italy confidently won the title. The Czech Republic completed the podium in second place ahead of Norway.
