Detroit Lions get revenge in San Francisco

The Detroit Lions have won away at the San Francisco 50ers in the NFL for the first time in almost 49 years. The team from Detroit now has a chance to enter the playoffs as the top seed in the NFC for the first time in its history.

The Lions won 40:34 (13:21) thanks to a comeback in the second half. Next weekend, the team will face division rivals Minnesota Vikings on the final matchday of the main round. Both teams have 14 wins and only two losses this season.

In San Francisco, the Lions also avenged their defeat in the NFC title game of the last playoff season. Back then, the 49ers led by quarterback Brock Purdy narrowly prevailed and reached the Super Bowl against the eventual winners, the Kansas City Chiefs.

This time, too, San Francisco started strongly and was ahead after a nearly perfect performance by Purdy in the first half. But the Lions showed their class, especially after the break. Quarterback Jared Goff threw a total of three touchdown passes and thus decided the game.
