NFL Draft: Tennessee lands mega-talent

Quarterback Cam Ward was selected first overall by the Tennessee Titans in the NFL Draft in Green Bay.

The 22-year-old was already considered the favorite for the honor of being selected first in the annual talent draw of the 32 teams from the US Football League. Ward played for the Miami Hurricanes last college season and won numerous awards.

The second player to go was exceptional talent Travis Hunter, who went to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Florida team was only allowed to pick at the fifth overall pick, but agreed to a trade with the Cleveland Browns. Hunter played two different positions in college, serving as both a receiver on offense and a defender on defense. He was considered the best available player in both roles.

In the draft, NFL teams select the best college prospects over a total of seven rounds over three days. The order of the draft is based on the results of the previous season. The Titans, as the team with the worst record in the 2024 season, had the right to the first pick.
