NFL quarterback ends career and announces new job

NFL quarterback Russell Wilson has ended his career and will become a TV analyst.

The 37-year-old played 14 years in the National Football League and led the Seattle Seahawks to their first Super Bowl victory in 2013. After ten years in Seattle, he moved to the Denver Broncos, but failed to meet expectations in two seasons there. His stints with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New York Giants also didn't bring the hoped-for results.

Wilson, Peyton Manning, and Dan Marino are the only quarterbacks to have thrown at least 20 touchdown passes in their first three NFL seasons. Wilson has also been selected to the Pro Bowl ten times, an honor bestowed upon the best players of the season.
Smaller than any other quarterback during the Super Bowl victory
Wilson announced the decision via video on social media.

“I am so blessed to be able to continue doing what I love so much – being involved in the best game in the world,” he says. At 1,80 meters tall, Wilson is the shortest quarterback to win the Super Bowl as a starting quarterback. He had recently considered playing another season with the Giants as Geno Smith's backup, but he has since dismissed that idea.
