Badminton: SSV Bozen ends the season in 5th place

Before the last match day, the SSV was in seventh place. With a clear 4-1 win against Lecco, South Tyrol's only A team moved up two places. This means that Bolzano has “set” its best placement to date. In previous seasons the SSV was third in each case, but back then the league was still two-pronged. “If we consider that our goal was to stay in the league, then we achieved the maximum with fifth place. Nothing more was possible, especially since we were almost never able to compete with the best possible team. Compliments to the team for this great result,” says section leader Ludwig Depaoli.

After four defeats in a row, the SSV was clearly the better team against Lecco di. Yvonne Tscholl and Tanja Scanferla gave the women's doubles the 1-0 lead. The decisive factor was the men's doubles. Igor Cimbur and Florian von Hepperger didn't find their way into the game against the experienced Stefan Forton and Morten Sorensen for a long time and were behind 13:21 and 11:15. Nevertheless, the people of Bolzano won the second set 21:19. They clearly dominated in the deciding set. Scanferla took the 3-0 lead in the singles after fending off a set point against Ottavia Mattavelli. Cimbur showed little effort in the Enzel against Forton. In the mixed doubles, David Gruber and Yvonne Tscholl lost a 20:17 lead in the first set and left four set points unused. But this defeat couldn't dampen the joy of fifth place.
