When the puck drops into the Weihenstephan Arena in Sterzing at 20 p.m. on Thursday, the top match of the week will take place in the Fuggerstadt. The Wipptal Broncos host the Rittner Buam, or in other words: four-man versus two-man!
Of course, the league standings aren't particularly meaningful after just one round, but Sterzing and Ritten are the only South Tyrolean AlpsHL teams to have started the season with a complete win. Ritten defeated Asiago 5-1 at home, and the Broncos won 5-3 in Neumarkt. The Wipptal team, in particular, has an intense weekend ahead: After the South Tyrolean duel against Ritten, they'll face the champions from Zell am See on Saturday (7:30 p.m.).
The Ritten team will travel to Neumarkt on Saturday, where the Unterland Cavaliers await (6 p.m.). The spa town will also face Val Gardena in the MeranArena (Saturday, 7:30 p.m.).
Full program in the IHL
The Italian Hockey League has also completed a game day. Numerous other games will take place on Thursday and Saturday. Toblach hosts HC Eppan on Thursday (20 p.m.), while Brixen faces Fassa in the "Falcons Duel."Alps Hockey League: This week's games
