AlpsHL final spurt: For a team it's still about everything

The last games of the regular season are coming up in the Alps Hockey League. There is still a lot at stake for the South Tyrolean teams, especially for the Wipptal Broncos.

The AlpsHL clubs still have to play two games before the regular season is history. The league is then divided: The first six teams play in the Master Round for the best starting position for the playoffs, the other ten teams fight in two groups for the last two tickets for the postseason.

What is the starting situation for the South Tyrolean teams? The Rittner Buam can no longer be pushed out of first place in the remaining two games and will start the Master Round as the regular round winners. While the cracks from the high plateau can play freely in the duels against HC Unterland (Wednesday, away) and Klagenfurt II (Friday, at home), everything is still on the line for the Wipptal Broncos.

Wipptal Broncos: Playoffs or qualifying round?

The Vipiteno are currently in 6th place and therefore in the ejection seat. From 3rd place to 7th place, anything is possible for the Wipptal team because the field is extremely close together. Bregenzerwald has 54 points and is in third place, followed by Jesenice (3 points), Red Bull Hockey Juniors (51), the Broncos (51) and Cortina (50). Adam Capannelli & Co. will meet Lustenau away on Wednesday and have the home game against Bregenzerwald on Friday. Direct playoff participation or qualification round – that is the question that arises for the Broncos.

The three other South Tyrolean representatives can no longer qualify directly for the playoffs. For Meran (current 9th place, 39 points), HC Gröden (11th place, 37 points) and HC Unterland (12th place, 35 points) the remaining two games are about climbing as far up as possible, to secure bonus points for the Qualification Round.
