The first season highlight for the Rittner Buam

When the puck hits the ice of the Ritten Arena on Saturday at 20 p.m., the Rittner Buam SkyAlps will be competing for their first title of the season. As part of the Italian Supercup final, they will host the reigning Italian Cup winners ASD Hockey Pergine Sapiens in Klobenstein.

The Italian Supercup is always contested between the winner of the IHL Serie A and the winner of the Italian Cup. The Rittner Buam SkyAlps were crowned Italian champions in Serie A in January this year in the final against SG Cortina Hafro, just a few days after Hockey Pergine Sapiens won the final of the Italian Cup against SV Kaltern Rothoblaas. As usual, the two teams will now face each other for the Supercup shortly before the start of the following season. The Rittner Buam SkyAlps have already won this cup five times and are now aiming for a sixth win.

"We are of course happy that we have the chance to win our first title," says new coach Jamie Russell. After the first four test matches, he describes the squad situation as follows: "We had more difficulties than expected, mainly due to injuries and illnesses. We were never really complete. That doesn't make it any easier, but it is our job to solve it," says the Canadian combatively. The Rittner Buam will still be the favorites against Pergine, after all they are the higher-class team. "But you certainly shouldn't underestimate them," warns Russell in conclusion.
