After a mixed season in which the Cavaliers finished the regular season in last place and missed the playoffs, South Tyrol's southernmost AlpsHL team is aiming for a turnaround next season. To that end, they have signed a player from Finland. As the Cavaliers announced on Friday morning, Miiro Linjala is moving to the lower Adige Valley.
The Finn, who can play both center and wing, comes from the Finnish second division. The 25-year-old played 216 games there, accumulating 121 points (47 goals). Last season, Linjala played for KeuPa HT, which finished last in the regular season but secured its place in the league through the relegation playoffs. Linjala played a crucial role in this, contributing eight points in twelve playoff games.
He is supposed to lead the offensive.
The Finn began last season with second-division club Hermes before being signed by French club Gap. Linjala, who had previously played exclusively in his native Finland, was unhappy with the bottom-of-the-table team, and after 27 games, he returned to Finland to play for KeuPa HT. Linjala also has five first-division appearances to his name – however, these were five years ago."With the signing of Linjala, the club gains an experienced, versatile and promising striker," the Cavaliers wrote in a press release. "The sporting management is convinced that Miiro has all the prerequisites to integrate perfectly into the team and play an important role in the team's positive development."
