German top league teams are superior to the South Tyrolean teams

The AlpsHL clubs suffered clear defeats against two German third-division teams on Sunday. Neither the Rittner Buam nor the Wipptal Broncos could celebrate a victory on the road.

Rittner Buam suffered a resounding defeat in their preseason friendly. The South Tyrolean AlpsHL team was thrashed 2-8 away at Bad Tölz (Oberliga, 3rd division in Germany). Rittner were already trailing 1-3 at the first intermission, with Angelo Miceli scoring the South Tyrolean goal in the 17th minute. The game continued in the same vein. Tobias Graf briefly narrowed the gap to 2-5 after a pass from Schives, but in the end, Bad Tölz secured a decisive victory.

The Wipptal Broncos suffered a similar fate, losing 0-3 away to the Erding Gladiators – like Bad Tölz, an Oberliga team. Sterzing will have a chance for revenge this coming Friday when the German team visits South Tyrol. Ritten, meanwhile, will be back in action on Tuesday against league rivals Gröden.
