The Broncos score and win again

The Wipptal Broncos have returned to winning ways after two goalless games and four defeats in a row - and of all things against their feared opponents Cortina.

In the last few weeks, the wild horses have experienced the first crisis of the current season. Johan Sjöquist's men had to wait 149 minutes and 17 seconds for a goal. This dry spell ended on Sunday, Wipptal won 4-3 after extra time.

The game in the Weihenstephan Arena didn't start as expected: only two minutes had been played before Jouka Juhola gave the guests the lead. Fabian Hackhofer & Co. turned the tide in the first third. First Adam Capannelli equalized, then defender Alessio Niccolai put the South Tyroleans in front for the first time. After a goalless second period, Cortina turned the game on its head through Marco Sanna and Diego Cuglietta before Fabian Gschliesser forced extra time with three minutes left. In this Capannelli became the match winner.

Cortina spell broken

The South Tyroleans have broken a taboo. Giorgio De Bettin's team eliminated the Broncos in the semi-finals of the Italian Championship and won the last four direct duels.
