“Minimize errors”: This is how the Broncos want to beat Buam

The first game of the semi-final series between the Wipptal Broncos and the Rittner Buam did what it promised. The second round of this duel takes place in Vipiteno on Thursday. In order to make this successful, the wild horses have come up with a clear plan.

The Rittner Buam were on Tuesday at 4:2-Sieg not the better team, but the smarter team. The one who made fewer mistakes and paid attention to every detail. In short: The number 1 title favorite played perfect playoff ice hockey. However, the Broncos have recognized that they are equals and can have a say in the series. “There’s no question, Ritten is a very good team,” says goalkeeper Jakob Rabanser SportNews-Interview. “But I think if we do our thing for 60 minutes, we can beat them.”

The 2-meter giant plays an important role in the Wipptaler team: “I’m happy to be part of this team. I see it as a privilege to bear this great responsibility,” explains the 23-year-old, who has been the Broncos’ undisputed number 1 for three years. “As a goalkeeper you have to learn not to think too much. And the most important thing is to just have fun,” says Rabanser, revealing his secret to success.

Rabanser against Furlong

After the Broncos lost the first game of the series, the season record is now 5-0 in favor of Tray Tuomie's team. So how can Simon Kostner & Co. be defeated? “We have to bring more consistency into our game, minimize individual mistakes and avoid penalties. Then we have a good chance,” says Rabanser. Coach Johan Sjöquist will particularly address the latter point before the game, as the white and blue received twice as many penalty minutes on Tuesday - and two goals when they were outnumbered.

Exploiting opportunities is at least as important. In Klobenstein, Adam Capannelli & Co. had the lead on several occasions when the score was 2:2, but each time they were defeated by the outstanding Ritten goalie Colin Furlong. Rabanser wants to steal the show from the Canadian on Thursday at 20 p.m. and lead his team to their first success in the series.
