Recently six defeats in a row and only 9 goals scored – before the derby against HC Val Gardena There was not much to suggest that the Wipptal Broncos against the Ladinians. But the almost 300 spectators in the Weihenstephan Arena were proven wrong. In the end, the bottom team deservedly won 8:2 against the HCG.
The hosts were already the better team in the first third and dominated the game from the start. After 11 minutes, Luciano Zandegiacomo took the puck in the offensive zone and scored to make it 1-0. Things got strange in the last second. The scoreboard in the Weihenstephan Arena was not working that evening and the game had to be stopped manually. A few hundredths of a second (!!!) before the end, James Livingston increased the score to 2-0.
In the middle third, the blue and whites pulled away. Fabian Hackhofer, Adam Capannelli, Thomas Galimberti and Zandegiacomo again gave the Broncos a 6-1 lead. In the meantime, Deluca made it 3-1. In the final third, the hosts managed their lead skillfully and celebrated a clear derby victory in the end.
