Victory against Broncos: Gröden achieves liberation

On the last match day of the calendar year 2024, HC Gröden made a big statement and defeated the Wipptal Broncos at home in overtime. The Rittner Buam confidently took three points against the Unterland Cavaliers. HC Meran, meanwhile, had no chance against Kitzbühel.

Was for a statement from HC Val GardenaAfter regularly disappointing in recent weeks, the Ladinians were able to win the derby against the recently strong Wipptal Broncos decide for yourself.

The hosts from Selva got off to a very good start and took a 4-1 lead in the 0th minute through Yuri Cristellon. After a positioning error by the Broncos, the 23-year-old guest goalie Groh danced out coolly and sent the puck over the goal line. After 17 minutes, the Ladinians increased their lead to 2-0 thanks to Emil Oksanen - again thanks to an error by the Sterzing back line. The first response from the Wipptal was not long in coming: just 40 seconds later, Adam Capannelli shot and surprised Paul Hofer over his shoulders.

In the middle period, the hosts were able to regain their lead after Stephan Deluca coolly converted a penalty. Eisendle & Co. then fought their way back into the game and equalized to 3:3 before the second break. First Sanvido and later Niccolai each scored from sharp angles into the far corner. Although the guests became stronger as the match went on, the HCG finally managed to score the decisive goal in extra time: Simon Pitschieler danced around the defense and sent the 1500 fans into ecstasy.

Ritten wins, Meran loses

The year 2024 ends for the Rittner Buam with a derby victory, and what a victory: With one of the best performances of the season so far, they left the hockey Underland Cavaliers on Monday evening in front of almost 1000 fans in the Ritten Arena. Already in the first third, the fans in the Ritten Arena were made aware that this derby is always explosive. 6 seconds before the end of the first third, the boys started a counterattack, Prast made a perfect cross to the Kalterer and he made it 1-0.

And the Ritten gala performance continued immediately in the second period, because after less than six minutes the score was already 3-0. First, Spinell beat Liprandi on the left side, then played back to Cuglietta, who made it 2-0 with a direct shot, then Szypula played a tongue-clicking pass across the Unterlandler slot to Hjorth, who hammered his direct shot under the crossbar.

The Cavaliers stumbled briefly, but then recovered and a lively middle third developed, in which Rittner's comeback goalie Treibenreif also distinguished himself several times. In the 36th minute he was particularly strong when he pulled off a great reflex save against Murnieks and somehow kept the puck out of the goal. However, just 30 seconds later he too had to admit defeat when the Cavaliers scored a goal after a counterattack by Remolato.

The Rittner Buam SkyAlps also started the final third like a house on fire and scored for the fourth time. This time Soracreppa shot from the second row and scored cleanly in the middle of the slot chaos into the far corner. That was the end for the Cavaliers, who from then on didn't gain a foothold and rarely posed a threat. Ritten missed the final decision several times in two consecutive power plays, but after Lang made it 5:1 - he also scored into the far corner from the second row - the derby was decided.
