Alexander Egger behind the bench for HCM? That might take some getting used to at the start of the season. After all, the long-time Foxes captain is a true Bolzano institution. Egger has played 892 games for HCB.

After retiring as a player, Egger remained loyal to the Foxes and worked in the ICE Hockey League as an assistant coach and video coach, among other roles. In the future, Egger will lace up his skates at the MeranArena and support head coach Christian Borgatello as an assistant. The two know each other well from their time together in Bolzano and with the Blue Team.

It's certain that HCM has pulled off a real transfer coup in the South Tyrolean coaching market with the signing of Egger. Moreover, it's a strong statement that the spa town team will be a force to be reckoned with in the new AlpsHL season – and this just a few weeks after they had been seriously considering withdrawing from the multinational league.
