Mike Halmo remains loyal to the Rittner Buam.

Mike Halmo will be on the sidelines for the Ritten/Renon Buam again next season. The Italian-Canadian will coach the blue-and-red team as assistant coach to new head coach Teemu Virtala and will also continue as head coach of the U19 team.

From a sporting perspective, last season was less than successful for the Ritten/Renon Buam, as they missed the playoffs for only the second time in the history of the Alps Hockey League. Nevertheless, the contract extension with Mike Halmo was never in doubt. This is because sporting directors Dan Tudin and Alexander Eisath hold the 35-year-old Canadian in high regard. Halmo also took over as head coach for a few games after Dave MacQueen's contract was terminated, but he couldn't prevent the team's premature end to the season.

Halmo, who ended his illustrious playing career with HCB Südtirol Alperia after the 2024/25 season, will not only take on the role of Assistant Coach for the Ritten/Renon Buam in the Alps Hockey League, but will also continue as Head Coach of the Junior Buam U19 team. "Mike will not only do important work as an assistant coach, but will also lead our U19 program. His experience and commitment will be of great importance, especially for the development of our young players," Tudin and Eisath concluded.
