Racism scandal in Pranives: Val Gardena apologizes

HC Gherdëina lost their sixth playoff quarterfinal game against the Red Bull Juniors. The Val Gardena team not only gave up, but also made a poor showing off the ice: there was a racism incident.

The sixth playoff game between HCG and the Red Bull Juniors was emotionally charged due to the events on the ice. However, passion should NEVER turn into hatred – not even on such a night. Unfortunately, that's exactly what happened Sunday night at the Pranives Arena.

A player from the visiting team was racially abused from the stands. HCG, as a club, distances itself from these attacks and condemns them in the strongest possible terms. We stand for all the values ​​that define sport: fairness, respect, and tolerance. Racism has no place in society or in ice hockey.

We will do everything in our power to find the culprit and apologize to the player involved for this unacceptable behavior. Ice hockey is a sport that welcomes everyone – and that will remain the case in the future.
