Ritten steals a defensive colossus from the competition

Last season, he faced the Ritten Buam and, with his hard work and experience, proved that he's an exceptional talent. Now, Patrick Madsen has moved to the high plateau: The 1,96-meter-tall Danish giant is moving from HC Meran to Ritten.

Madsen proved to be a tough nut to crack, especially in the playoff quarterfinals against HC Meran. With his massive stature—he's 1,96 meters tall and weighs a whopping 99 kilograms—but also his amazing vision and game intelligence, the defensive colossus made things really tough for Ritten's attackers. But now they can rely on his performance, as Madsen will play the 2025/26 season with the Rittner Buam.

The left-footed shooter, who was born on January 9, 1993 in Herning (Denmark), played his youth football at his hometown club Herning and made his debut in the 2009/10 season for their first team Herning Blue Fox, which plays in the Danish first division Metal Ligaen.

Except for a stint with league rivals Frederikshavn White Hawks in the 2019/20 season, he remained loyal to his youth club and won two Danish championships with them. Before the 2024/25 season, he moved to HC Merano, where he contributed 51 points (42 goals) in 8 games, thus underscoring his offensive abilities. Madsen also played two games for the Danish national team.

Madsen impressed in the playoffs

Madsen's at times outstanding performances in the playoff quarterfinals against the Rittner Buam also impressed Dan Tudin and Alexander Eisath, the two sporting directors: "After last season's playoffs against Meran, we are very pleased to welcome Patrick to our squad. He brings toughness, defensive stability, and a strong defensive awareness – qualities we lacked last year. His uncompromising style of play makes him an unpleasant opponent. As a leader in the locker room, Patrick reinforces our philosophy of bringing strong-character players to the club."
