Ritten fights back and forces Game 3

The Rittner Buam had their backs to the wall before the away game at Cortina. A victory for the Ampezzans would have meant the title triumph. But the South Tyroleans fought back and secured Game 3.

The title duel for the Scudetto remains exciting. After Cortina's victory in Klobenstein on Tuesday, Ritten hit back on Thursday. Marco Insam & Co. put the hosts in their place with 4:2, secured game 3 and also regained the home advantage. The grand finale will take place on Saturday (18 p.m.). If Cortina wins, the title defense would be perfect. Ritten was already defeated in the final last year. A scenario that the South Tyroleans want to avoid this year.

Around 7 minutes had been played in Cortina d'Ampezzo when Ritten goalie Colin Furlong was defeated for the first time. Gregory Di Tomaso converted an assist from Diego Cuglietta to take the lead. Ritten was not shocked and promptly countered: Max Coatta (outstanding game with a goal and 2 assists) scored to make it 1-1 (9th). That was it with the goals in the first third and even after the break it took quite a long time before we could celebrate again. The Italian-Canadian defender Terrance Amorosa struck after an assist from Julian Kostner and gave the Buam the lead for the first time (1th).

It stayed that way until eight and a half minutes before the end. Then Riccardo Lacedelli was there to give Cortina the equalizer (52'). But Insam reacted immediately, taking precise measures in the power play and scoring the 2-3 winning goal (54th). Kevin Fink scored the final score by slotting into the empty goal (60').
