Pure excitement: Broncos lose in the top game

497 spectators experienced a real fight in the Vipiteno Weihenstephan Arena. On one side Zell am See, on the other side the Wipptal Broncos. It should be a game with constant ups and downs. The hosts started like fire engines and took the lead after just 4 minutes. Alex Zecchetto decisively deflected the puck when he was in the majority. Just 2 minutes later the Broncos struck again and scored in the same manner to make it 2-0. The guests then hit back and equalized in the first third.

The middle period started similarly and the blue and whites quickly took a 4-2 lead. The Zeller Eisbären struck back again and equalized 4:4. Now things got even more bitter for the host. After a number of questionable penalties (including 5+20 against Davide Conci), the Pinzgauer team completely turned the game around and took the lead 6-4. In the final third, Hackhofer & Co. threw everything forward, but it was only enough for Adam Capannelli to score the next goal.

The Rittner Buam lived up to their role as favorites and defeated Klagenfurt away 5-1. After an exciting two thirds (after 2 minutes the Buam “only” led 40:2), the South Tyroleans pulled away and deservedly won 1:5. The goals for the guests were scored by Max Coatta, Adam Giacomuzzi, Julian Kostner, Stefan Quinz and Terrance Amorosa.

Defeats for the remaining teams The Unterland Cavaliers lost 2:4 at home against Kitzbühel. The first goal of the evening (for the guests) only came in the 24th minute. However, 30 seconds later, the Cavs struck back and equalized through Moritz Kaufmann. After falling behind again, the Tyroleans picked up the lead a little later and increased the score to 3-1. Although the hosts were able to shorten the score again 6 minutes before the end, the Eagles ended the match with the goal to make it 4-2.

The match day also went less well for HC Gröden. In their own four walls, the Furie had to admit defeat against Jesenice 2:5. Despite a 1-0 lead by Antony DeLuca (29th), the hosts' hopes quickly faded and the Ladin team conceded 5 goals within 3 minutes. In the final third, the Slovenians increased their lead and decided the game early. The goal to make it 2:5 shortly before the end only served to cosmetic the result.

HC Meran also had to admit defeat. Away against Fassa, the South Tyroleans lost 0-3. Despite the two new additions Fabrizio Ricci and Brandon McNally, it wasn't enough to win a point. Even goalie Andrei Makarov, who celebrated his comeback, could not prevent the defeat.

Pure excitement: Broncos lose in the top game

The fans experienced 60 thrilling minutes in the game between the Wipptal Broncos and EK Zell am See in the Weihenstephan Arena on Thursday, with the hosts narrowly losing out in the end. While the Rittner Buam lived up to their role as favorites, the other South Tyrolean teams suffered defeats.
