Unterland's farewell tour is becoming more and more curious
Since the Unterland Cavaliers announced their departure from the Alps Hockey League, they have been racing from success to success in the cross-border league. This was also the case on Saturday evening. Ritten and Meran, on the other hand, suffered serious defeats.

On January 15, the news hit like a bolt from the blue: The Unterland Cavaliers are leaving the Alps Hockey LeagueThey leave the other twelve league participants behind and move to the IHL. In sporting terms, however, this lightning strike was apparently like a cleansing storm. Because since the news came out, the Cavs have been unstoppable. On Saturday, they recorded their fifth victory in just one week!
The Underland Cavaliers defeated the second-to-last team in the table, EC Bregenzerwald, 2-1 in their home Würtharena. Defensive veteran Alex Sullmann gave the “Knights” the lead in the opening phase in the power play, and the extremely strong Kristians Samitis increased the lead to 2-0 a little later. Daniels Murnieks provided the preparatory work both times.
Although guest star Mark Mußbacher was able to shorten the deficit in the middle third, 20-year-old Laurin Foppa then sealed the deal in the Unterlandler goal. This extended Unterlandler's winning streak.
Merano firmly in 9th place
Unterland thus moves into the intermediate round as eighth in the table, pursuers HC Meran can no longer displace their rivals from the south. The Eagles were defeated 4:8 by fourth-placed Kitzbühel. In the extremely fair match, David Trivellato gave the guests the lead, but after that it was almost only the players from the Gamsstadt who were on the attack. They were already leading 23:7 (!) in the 1rd minute, and everything else was just cosmetic. There was nothing for Alan Lobis and Co. to gain in Croatia. © Max Pattis
For the Rittner Buam On Saturday evening, the longest away trip of the season was scheduled, a nine-hour bus ride to Croatia to KHL Sisak. In front of almost 1.600 spectators, the decimated blue-reds had to admit defeat with a clear 0:3 after a drop in performance halfway through the game.
The Alps Hockey League continues on Sunday, when the Wipptal Broncos will try to jump to fifth place with a win and (for now) secure their place in the quarter-finals. Last-placed Val Gardena will host Celje.
