Fourth win in a row: Furie also celebrate against Linz

The fans of HC Gherdëina didn't get to see exciting ice hockey in Linz for a long time. Both in the first third and at the beginning of the second, both teams concentrated on a clean defensive performance and on not letting their opponents into the game - with success. The goalies Paul Hofer in the Furie's goal and Benedikt Oschgan in the Linz team were always victorious in every attempt in the first half of the game and kept their boxes clean. The knot only broke when Matteo Luisetti shot the puck over the line after a pass from Brad McGowan to make it 1-0 for Val Gardena (30.58).

This goal gave the game the momentum it needed and the game became faster and more attractive. Just five minutes later, the Furies rewarded their courageous style of play and consistent forechecking when Luisetti intercepted a Linzer pass in their third and played it to Anthony DeLuca. He took the target to the right of the goal, went in front of Oschgan and lifted the puck over his left shoulder into the goal to make it 2-0 (35.50).

Anthony DeLuca's hat-trick Things continued in a similar way in the final third. Val Gardena was in control and managed the lead, but made a mistake in defense three minutes after the restart, which Linz promptly took advantage of to make it 1-2 through Sebastian Wilding, who beat Hofer with a follow-up shot (43.28). But the people of Val Gardena couldn't let these three points and the lead in the table be taken away from them. DeLuca brought the puck from the right onto the Linz goal in the power play and although it looked as if the Linz goalkeeper had the puck safely in possession, it rolled over the line and gave the Val Gardena team the 3-1 lead and DeLuca his brace. The Canadian then easily converted this into a hat trick with his empty net goal to make the final score 4-1.

HC Gherdëina thus continued to establish itself as the front runner in Qualification Round A and at the same time secured participation in the pre-playoffs.

Ritten shows no weakness The evening was just as successful for the Rittner Buam. The best team of the regular season and the master round so far didn't let up against Zell am See and won 5:2. Adam Giacomuzzi and Co. thus extended their league lead over Cortina to nine points and remain the team to beat in the AlpsHL.

This sixth victory in a row in the Masterround showed the ambitions of the Italian champion. The argument of a broad squad in which local players contribute a lot to success was also confirmed. The South Tyroleans' goals were scored by Markus Spinell, Jakob Prast, Adam Giacomuzzi, Marco Marzolini and Simon Kostner.

On Saturday evening, two teams from South Tyrol were in demand in the Alps Hockey League. HC Gherdëina traveled to Linz, while Rittner Buam asked the Zeller Eisbären to dance.
