Wipptal and Meran win in Peiting

Two AlpsHL teams from South Tyrol are currently participating in a preseason tournament in Peiting, Germany. Both Wipptal and Meran emerged victorious on Saturday.

The Wipptal Broncos got off to a strong start at the TQ Cup preseason tournament in Peiting. The South Tyroleans narrowly defeated SC Riessersee from the German Oberliga Süd 2-1. After a strong opening period from Garmisch, which saw Jesse Roach take the lead, the Broncos equalized on the power play through Franco Sproviero and sealed the victory in the middle period through Jerkko Rämö. Coach Johan Sjöquist's team impressed with their hard work and defensive stability, remaining unfazed by several good opportunities from their opponents in the final period.

HC Meran also celebrated a victory in its first TQ Cup match. The Eagles defeated hosts EC Peiting (Oberliga Süd) 3-2 in a penalty shootout. Tommaso Traversa and Daniel Gellon scored for the South Tyroleans, before Christopher Frederiksen sealed the victory with the game-winning penalty. The home team held up well in the first two periods, but in the end, Meran presented a composed and steady performance.
