These are the EBEL opponents of HC Bozen – Part 2

HC TWK Innsbruck History: The Tyrolean ice hockey flagship, founded in 1925, returned to the top division last year after a three-year absence. The EBEL founding member, who will face Bolzano on matchday 1, has made it to the final once (1985).

Home venue: The Haie play at home games in the Tiroler-Wasserkfraft-Arena. The “little brother” of the huge Olympic Hall has 3.130 seats, although an average of only 1.726 seats were occupied in the last regular season. The lowest average in the league.

Season 2012/13: As bottom of the table, Innsbruck clearly missed out on a place in the playoffs. After this disappointing sporting season, major hotelier Christian Kaltschmid took over as the new president.

Team squad: Coach Daniel Naud can rely on a restructured team. Thomas Tragust from Meran moved to Eppan and was replaced between the posts by Adam Munro. In addition, the brothers Justin and Tyler Donati, as well as the extremely dangerous striker Lukas Jurik, were brought to Innsbruck.

Dornbirn Ice Hockey Club

History : The only EBEL participant from Vorarlberg was founded in 1992 as a successor club to EHC Dornbirn and took part in the international championship for the first time last season. The trophy collection includes two championship titles from the National League (2008, 2010).

Home venue: The Bulldogs are based in the 4.400-seat exhibition hall. An average of 2.390 fans made the pilgrimage there during the regular season.

Season 2012/13: In its debut year in the EBEL, Dornbirn fought for a long time to make it into the playoffs, but this goal was ultimately missed with the penultimate place in the relegation round.

Team squad: The Italian national player and team top scorer Luciano Aquino has been confirmed for the coming season. The Italian-Canadian Chris D'Alvise, who was lured to the “Ländle” from Ljubljana, will play at his side in the future.

UPC Vienna Capitals History: Although the Vienna Capitals were only founded in 2000, they have been one of the hottest title contenders for years. Eight years ago, the team from the Austrian capital was crowned champions for the first and only time.

Home venue: The Caps play in the Albert Schultz ice rink. After the Bozen Eiswelle, this is the largest venue in the EBEL with 7.000 seats. On average, the capital city club attracted 5.079 fans (a total of 137.125 spectators) to their own hall in the past regular season and was therefore Austria's spectator crowd.

Season 2012/13: After a strong season, the capital team had to surprisingly admit defeat 0-4 in the final against the KAC and bury their dream of the title.

Team squad: Coach Tommy Samuelsson can rely on most of last year's team, including former Bozen goalkeeper Matt Zaba, who had a really strong season. There are also some new signings such as defender Justin Fletcher and strikers Dustin Sylvester and Mike Ouellette, who collected 134 points for Linz last year.

HC Orli Znojmo

History: Znojmo was founded in 1933 and has been competing in the EBEL for two years. The Adler from the small medieval town near the Austrian border is the only representative from the Czech Republic in the cross-border league.

Home venue: The Helios Arena in Znojmo can accommodate 5.500 spectators, but on average it was less than half full during the regular season.

Season 2012/13: Znojmo won the qualifying round, but then had to bow to eventual finalists Vienna 1:4 in the quarterfinals.

Team squad: The Czechs have confirmed almost the entire roster and brought in an experienced player in Richard Pavlikovský. The 38-year-old Slovakian last played for DEL club Krefeld for eight years.
