The “Azzurri” play in Asiago

Rick Cornacchia and his protégés are continuing their preparation for the World Cup in Sweden and Finland with three test matches against Kazakhstan, which will compete in the title fights in the parallel group in Helsinki. Tuesday and Friday will be played in Asiago, while on Thursday the Scola Stadium in Canazei will be the venue. After the three friendly matches, Cornacchia will announce his final World Cup squad.

Before the start of the tournament, the “Azzurri” will test their form again in Denmark. Only the 25 players who will represent Italy at the World Cup in Stockholm from May 4th are already deployed there. At the moment the squad, which is holding a training camp in Asiago, still has 34 players. This also includes the master players from HC Bozen and HCP striker Giulio Scandella, who was recently granted a short stay in Canada.

They will all be offered the opportunity to recommend themselves for a place in the World Cup team in the upcoming test matches and training sessions. So far the preparation program has gone smoothly, apart from Armin Hofer's injury-related absence, who had to return home early.

The remaining squad players have three groundbreaking duels with Kazakhstan ahead of them, especially since the guests represent a high-quality squad and therefore a real test for the Italians. Cornacchia will give confidence to Daniel Bellissimo as number one at the World Cup, but Thomas Tragust and Andreas Bernard will also get their chance to play in the next games.
