As high summer continues to spread, the first major ice hockey highlight of the new season is drawing ever closer: In exactly 50 days, the 20th edition of the Dolomitencup will begin in Neumarkt.

Happy Birthday to you: When the first puck drops at the elegant Würth Arena on Friday, August 21st, this year's Dolomiten Cup will mark the start of a very special edition of the prestigious pre-season tournament. For the 20th time, Europe's ice hockey elite will battle for the coveted trophy. Anticipation for this anniversary edition is growing by the hour. In exactly 50 days, the action kicks off in South Tyrol.

Over the past 20 years, the Dolomitencup in Neumarkt has become one of the most prestigious pre-season tournaments in European ice hockey. This is clearly reflected in this year's lineup. The reigning German champions, Eisbären Berlin, are participating, along with EV Zug, one of the hottest Swiss teams of recent years; Kometa Brno, a major force from the Czech Republic; and the Augsburg Panthers, a club steeped in tradition from Bavaria.

Big anniversary party on Saturday

The Dolomiten Cup kicks off on Friday, August 21st at 8 p.m. with the semifinal between the Augsburg Panthers and Kometa Brno. On Saturday, the second semifinal between EV Zug and the Eisbären Berlin takes place – not at the usual 8 p.m., but at 3:30 p.m. This is for a special reason: a big anniversary party is planned for 7:30 p.m. in the village center of Neumarkt. Sunday, as always, is reserved for the finals. The bronze medal game starts at 3:45 p.m., and the final is at 8 p.m.
