Dolomitencup: The defending champion is there again

Veni, vidi, vici – or translated: They came, saw and conquered. Dynamo Pardubice found its way to the Dolomites Cup for the first time in August 2022 and promptly turned out to be an enrichment for the famous preparatory tournament in the Neumarkt Würtarena. When they took part for the first time, the Czechs were able to lift the coveted pot straight away. In the final, Pardubice defeated DEL club Eisbären Berlin 4-1.

With this tournament victory, the traditional club got the finishing touches for the championship - and then really rocked it. In the Czech ice hockey upper house “Extraliga”, the team of new coach Radim Rulík (he has been on the board since last summer) collected no fewer than 108 points in the regular season and thus confidently secured the regular season victory. In the quarterfinals, HC Olomouc was swept on vacation, and Pardubice won the series 4-0. The semi-final series against Trinec is currently underway, in which both teams have so far achieved one win each. The many Dynamo fans (an average of 9000 spectators come to home games) are dreaming more than ever of their first championship title since 2012.

In the first league for 73 years The history of Dynamo Pardubice is impressive: in 1950 the club was promoted to the top Czech league and has never been relegated since. 73 years in a row in one of the best leagues in the world – that’s quite a feat. In the city of 92.000 inhabitants on the Elbe, ice hockey is not just a sport, but a religion. In total, Pardubice won six championship titles, three of them in the Czechoslovak league, to which Dynamo belonged until 1993, and three more in the Czech Extraliga, which was founded that year.

With Dynamo Pardubice, another top club is coming to Neumarkt. Dolomite Cup record champions Augsburg (Germany) and the 2022 Champions League winner Rögle BK (Sweden) have already confirmed their participation. The fourth and final team will be announced soon.

The Dolomites Cup will be held this summer for the 17th time. The prestigious ice hockey preparation tournament in Neumarkt/South Tyrol will take place from August 18th to 20th in the Würtarena. Back at the start: defending champions Dynamo Pardubice from the Czech Republic.
