Dolomitencup: The Vikings are coming
Even though the European ice hockey playoffs are still underway, planning for the next season is already underway in the background. This includes the Dolomiten Cup. Now the organizers have announced the next participant, who will compete for the title at the prestigious preparatory tournament in Neumarkt, South Tyrol, from August 15th to 17th.

Around 1.000 years ago, the Vikings left their Nordic villages, set sail with impressive fleets, and roamed the world. When the Dolomitencup takes place in August, modern Vikings will once again be on the hunt for plunder – on the ice of the Würtharena in Neumarkt. Because the top Norwegian club Vålerenga Ishockey will be competing in this summer's prestigious ice hockey preparatory tournament.
This brings a wealth of tradition to the South Tyrolean lowlands. The club, based in the Oslo district of the same name, is considered one of the biggest names in Norwegian ice hockey. Vålerenga has won no fewer than 26 (!) championship titles over the decades, thus significantly contributing to the country's hockey history. Vålerenga Ishockey is not only Norway's record ice hockey champion, but also the team that has won the most titles in any team sport in Norway.

However, the Scandinavians are currently experiencing a dry spell, as Vålerenga last won the championship in 2009. Since then, the Oslo-based team has reached the final four times, but the trophy has always gone to their opponents. Last season, the Norwegians lost in the semifinals.
New season, new Dolomiten Cup, new luck?
Vålerenga's focus is now entirely on the new season, which will be kicked off with the Dolomitencup. However, this won't be a first for the traditional club from Neumarkt. This confirms the third participant in the renowned preparatory tournament. In addition to Vålerenga, Dynamo Pardubice (Czech Republic) and Löwen Frankfurt (Germany) will also be competing in the 15th edition of the Dolomitencup from August 17 to 19. The fourth and final participant will be announced shortly.
