EVB Eagles South Tyrol: After the 15th championship title, many things are new

The Olympic year brought EVB Eagles Südtirol their 15th Italian championship title in the last 16 seasons, but also some problems. The costly two years of preparation had taken their toll. Therefore, much will be new for the "Eagles" next season, as they will once again compete in both the European Women's Hockey League (EWHL) and the IHL Women. Andrea Valcanover was slated to take over as head coach from Stefano Daprá, who left Bolzano after six years. However, the 62-year-old withdrew at short notice due to health reasons. No longer with last year's team are Sara Kaneppele and Laura Lobis, who have ended their careers, as well as Giorgia Todesco and Olivia Cambruzzi, who have moved to the second Swedish league. Alice Philbert will play in the PWHL professional league for Detroit, her sister Leonie in France, and Kylie Aquaro in Germany. 19-year-old Latvian national player Emilija Jakovleva, who played only in the EWHL with the Eagles last year, has definitely settled in Bolzano. Thalia Zolis is also returning. The Canadian with Greek roots is the fiancée of HCB forward Daniel Mantenuto. Captain Jacquie Pierri, who now holds an Italian passport, is also back on board. Eleonora Bonafini, Emma Cereghini, Anna Callovini, Emma Rindone, Annalisa Giuliani, and Eliana Nobile are also still part of the team. Elena Perathoner, Isis Ronin, Ania Kristo, Nora Schwarz, and the two Canadians Devyn Millwater and Jessica Martens, all now considered fixtures on the team, will bolster the EWHL squad. After a year's absence, the Italian champions can once again count on Ilaria Girardi in goal, with Lucrezia La Sala and Martina Marangoni ready as backups. Otherwise, everything is new. Eight young players born between 2011 and 2013 have joined the Eagles: Erin Bianco, Jasmin Mangger, Karin Vecchiarelli, Elsa Innerhofer, Nadine Panato, Alena Reinalter, Romy Falser, and Margherita Lucchiari. Eurospar Lakers: Two departures and two arrivals The Eurospar Lakers are prioritizing continuity, starting with the coaching staff. 42-year-old Pontus Moren is entering his fourth season in Überetsch. The Italian-Swedish coach knows most of the players from previous years. Two have left Kaltern: Doris Prossliner is taking a break for professional reasons, while Isis Ronin will be playing for league rival Trentino Women this winter. The resulting gaps have been filled with two young players. Marika Piccolruaz from Val Gardena previously played for Toblach and spent last season in Finland. Angelica Springhetti, on the other hand, hails from Fondo and already trained with the Lakers in 2025/26, who are once again foregoing foreign players. Moren's team's goal is to reach the playoffs. HC 3 Zinnen Dolomites: A new coach and a returning player The playoffs are also the goal for HC 3 Zinnen Dolomites this winter, who are also managing without any foreign players. Little changed in Toblach over the summer, which is why the roster remains largely the same as last season. Alongside experienced players like Tahnee Wild and Gabriela Serrittú, and the ever-present Waltraud "Wally" Kaser, several talented youngsters remain on the team. Captain Eva Maria Grunser and her teammates have a new coach in Bryant Perrier, after Tahnee Wild had to juggle the roles of player-coach for the past two years. The 61-year-old Canadian has been coaching for 30 years. Katrin Stauder, a key player, is also returning to her hometown club. The forward, who will help out on defense, last played for Zoldo after a year-long break.
