Reinforces Asiago: Hunter Warner © Iowa Wild

Asiago hooks a 100-pound man

Asiago has had a respectable first season in the ICE Hockey League. In the new season, Tom Barrasso's team wants to take the next step and has already made interesting signings. Another one was added on Wednesday.

As the club announced on Wednesday, Hunter Warner will wear the Stellati jersey next season. The contract with the American initially provides for a trial period until the end of October, at the end of which a decision will be made as to whether it makes sense to stay or not. “I think he is the player we were looking for,” says sporting director Renato Tessari. “He has a good physique, is concrete and tough. He is up to the task on a tactical, technical and physical level. The only thing we want to make sure of is that he has the pace to play in the ICE after only playing 18 games last season.”

The 27-year-old Warner spent large parts of his career in the North American AHL before taking a sabbatical in 2021. In the previous season, the American only played 18 games (three points) with French first division club Bordeaux before his contract was terminated in mid-January. The 1.93 meter tall and 101 kilogram heavy Warner should return to his old strength at Asiago.
