Lightning goals let Salzburg dream of the title

Red Bull Salzburg has also won its second ICE final game in the ICE Ice Hockey League. The defending champions celebrated a commanding 4-0 victory against KAC Salzburg at their home stadium on Sunday and now lead the best-of-7 series 2-0.

Two goals within five seconds in the 22nd minute sealed the victory. Klagenfurt are now under pressure in their home game on Tuesday (19.30:33 p.m.) to preserve their chance of winning their XNUMXrd championship title.

After a goalless first period with Salzburg having the advantage, Oliver David's team struck early in the middle period. Following a vigorous drive from Benjamin Nissner's own zone and his perfect cross pass, Peter Schneider scored the opening goal (22nd minute). Just five seconds later, Lucas Thaler got to the puck after a face-off and beat KAC goalkeeper Sebastian Dahm again. The two goal scorers were the same two players who had to leave the ice injured in the last semifinal against Bolzano.

After some good moments from the Carinthians, Philipp Krening increased the lead to 34-3 in the 0th minute. Salzburg were no longer under pressure and capitalized on a positioning error in the KAC defense to score their fourth goal through Tyler Lewington in the 48th minute. The hosts also survived nearly two minutes of being two-man down, helping goalkeeper Atte Tolvanen to his third shutout of this year's playoffs. The champions are now well on their way to a fourth consecutive title.
