Everything would have been prepared for the big final party of HC Bozen. The Foxes were ahead with 3-2 wins in the semi-final series against Salzburg and could have closed the bag on Saturday in the sold-out Sparkasse Arena in front of almost 7.000 fans. But in the end it was for the White and Reds a bitter 1:4 defeat.
“We did well in the first two thirds, but a mistake put us behind. When we were able to equalize in the second period, we kept pushing and pushing. “We lacked a bit of luck in the end and there was definitely not enough in the special teams today,” says captain Daniel Frank, analyzing Saturday’s match.

Instead of making it to the final, the HCB now has another trip to Salzburg. It will be there on Tuesday from 19.30 p.m. (as always in SportNews-Live ticker) for the all-important Game 7. “I only have one thing on my mind,” says Captain Frank, “you hurt us a lot here in our arena last year. Now we’re going out there and want to turn the tables there.”
The Salzburg Volksgarten is a good place
Frank is referring to the lost final game 7 of last season, when Salzburg were crowned champions in a packed Sparkasse Arena and Bozen plunged into the valley of tears. Now the tide is about to turn. The Salzburg Volksgarten has often brought the HCB luck in crucial games. “We became champions there in 2014 and 2018. “I still have that in my head,” says “Franky” in the mood for the do-or-die game.Edit Profile
