Bolzano meets its old rival

The semifinals of the Summer Classic in Bolzano have been completed, and the final day is on Sunday. There is a change in the program. In addition, two South Tyrolean AlpsHL clubs tested on Saturday.

HC Kosice is the second finalist of the Südtirol Summer Classic by Sparkasse. The Slovakians beat Asiago 6:3 in the preparatory tournament in the Sparkasse Arena in Bolzano. After 40 minutes the score was 3:3 thanks to Saracino's hat trick and goals from Petras, Gildon and Havrila, but Kosice turned things around in the third period and finished the game with goals from Jääskeläinen, Gildon and Mikus.

Contrary to the original plan, the final of the tournament - between Spisska Nova Ves and Kosice - will take place at 15 p.m. The match for third place between Bozen and Asiago, however, will take place at 19 p.m. This means that local ice hockey fans are in for a real treat: Bozen and Asiago have always had a rivalry, and the duels between the two ICE league opponents are known as "classics".

Victories for Sterzing and Unterland

On Saturday, two South Tyrolean AlpsHL clubs also tested their form ahead of the new season. The Wipptal Broncos beat the German top league team EC Peiting 5:2. The goals were scored by Jonas Kerschbaumer, Connor Sanvido, Bryson Cianfrone, Alessio Niccolai and James Livingston. Meanwhile, HC Unterland beat the reigning IHL champions Pergine 4:2.
