The new year begins with the Tyrolean Derby

Extensive New Year's Eve celebrations are not an option for the ice hockey professionals of the South Tyrolean ICEHL clubs. Things are already happening in quick succession on New Year's Day. The HCB South Tyrol will face the Innsbrucker Haie away in the Tyrolean derby, while the HC Pustertal will host Asiago.

HCB Südtirol Alperia ended last year with a win. The Foxes deservedly beat Villach 3:2 on Sunday (click here for the match report)The HCB therefore goes into the new year as the leader, level on points with Ferhervar, but has played 2 games less than the Hungarians.

Innsbruck, meanwhile, is experiencing a difficult season. With 9 wins (including 3 after regular time) and 24 defeats (including 3 in overtime or in the penalty shootout), the Sharks are in last place in the table with 27 points. On Sunday, the North Tyroleans suffered a 1:3 defeat in Salzburg.

It's no wonder that the HCB is the big favorite going into the game. It is the third direct duel between the two teams this season. On October 20, the Foxes won 4:2 in front of their home crowd. On November 15, however, extra time was needed in the TIWAG Arena to determine the winner: Brad McClure scored the decisive goal after a 0:0 score in the regular 60 minutes.

The Tyrolean derby (kick-off at 17.30:XNUMX p.m.) will also be broadcast free of charge on DAZN and can be accessed on any device - TV, tablet, PC or smartphone. The ICE Hockey League content on DAZN is not only available to subscribers of the platform, but can be viewed free of charge by anyone who registers on the website.

HCP meets its arch rival

HC Pustertal, on the other hand, will face arch-rival Asiago. In the last game of last year The Wolves triumphed 5-2 against Pioneers Vorarlberg, while the Stellati suffered a 0-3 defeat at KAC.

The HCP and Asiago have met twice this season. At the end of October, the Wolves won 2-7 in Asiago, and a month later they suffered a 2-2 defeat after extra time in Bruneck. The game starts today at 3 p.m.
