Enrico Miglioranzi: No appearances but still highly rated

Enrico Miglioranzi played his last game for HC Bozen on March 5th, and he won't be playing any more any time soon. And yet, he doesn't have to worry about his sporting future.

HCB Südtirol Alperia announced the contract extension with Miglioranzi this Sunday. The 32-year-old defender from Padua will also play for the Foxes in the ICE Hockey League next season. He has long since matured into a permanent fixture there, although an injury is currently keeping him out of action.

In the second quarter-final match against Villach, an opponent fell on Miglioranzi's bent knee. The consequences? A partial tear of the cruciate ligament, an operation, the immediate end of the season and missing the home World Cup in Bolzano. The defender will return to the ice in the autumn, but the exact time of his comeback is still unknown.

Miglioranzi is thus entering his fourth full season in Bolzano. He first played for the Foxes in the 2013/14 championship season, followed by a return to his home club Asiago, an interlude in the third Swedish league and finally a move from Asiago to Bolzano again in the summer of 2022. In the state capital, he has so far made a total of 179 appearances and scored 23 points.

Miglioranzi on the contract extension

"It was certainly not easy to have to watch most of the playoffs from the stands, but what happened is now in the past. I am happy to be able to look to the future and continue to wear the white and red jersey. I am working hard to be fully fit again as soon as possible and the rehabilitation is going well. Next season we will start with the same goal as always, which is to make it to the end: in the last two years this group has gained a lot of experience, we have a high-quality squad and we know how great our potential is."

The previous HCB squad:

Gate: Samuel Harvey, Gianluca Vallini (both confirmed).

Defense: Dylan Di Perna, Enrico Miglioranzi (both confirmed), Jason Seed, Peter Spornberger (both new),

Attack: Daniel Mantenuto, Dustin Gazley, Daniel Frank (all confirmed), Anthony Salinitri, Matt Bradley (both new)

Trainer: Glen Hanlon (confirmed)
