Euphoria in Pustertal: “We have to stay on the ground”

With four wins from four games, HC Pustertal got off to a brilliant start in the new season of the ICE Hockey League. But in the green valley you don't want to fall into premature euphoria.

“That's obviously how we imagined the start. Now we have to keep our feet on the ground. There is still room for improvement,” explained captain Raphael Andergassen before the top game against Klagenfurt AC. The Austrian record champions only won at HC Bozen on Friday and are likely to be one of the top teams in the league again this year.

It is not yet possible to say whether HC Pustertal will also do this. The fact is: most of Wolves' purchases have been a success so far. For example, the attack has more quality compared to last year and is therefore more efficient. “The start couldn’t have gone better. Now we want our fifth win against KAC,” said David Morley. At the same time, his colleague Andergassen warned about the opponent on Tuesday: “It is always difficult against Klagenfurt.”

Bolzano wants its first home win

On Monday morning the bomb exploded in Bolzano South. Glen Hanlon will return to the dugout. Until the Canadian arrives in Talferstadt, the interim trainer duo Fabio Armani and Alexander Egger will continue to lead the Foxes. This was also the case on Tuesday against Olimpija Ljubljana. The Foxes want to celebrate their first home win against the Dragons.

“The win in Asiago was important for morale. But we didn't play our best game and allowed too many shots. But goalie Niklas Svedberg played outstandingly,” explained attacker Luca Frigo. The long-time HCB supporter sees a good defensive performance against the Slovenians as the key to another win. “The puck will fall in at the front,” said Frigo.
