Fehervar disenchants HC Pustertal

After the Wolves' furious start to the current ICE season (six wins in six games), the Puster engine started to sputter a bit recently. After the narrow defeat in overtime against VSV (4:5), it was enough to win against the Vienna Capitals 3:1. But on Saturday evening a different caliber awaited in the top game with Hydro Fehervar AV19. The Hungarians have been in top form for six games (including 5 wins) and are slowly but surely moving towards the top of the table, which is currently held by HC Pustertal. Ultimately, the Hungarian club confirmed its ambitions with a 5-3 win against Wolves.

Against Fehervar the wolves were brought back down to earth. Fehervar played lightning-fast offensive ice hockey and caught the HCP defense off guard again and again. Not because they took a break today, but because the Hungarians shone with enviable creativity in front of the Pustertal goal. Every pass was received, every well-thought-out move was like being pulled on a string and if the strikers got into a promising position, then they hit the mark.

For example, 3:0 and 4:0 could be mentioned here. Both of Anze Kuralt's goals followed every ice hockey tactic book excellently, which the Hungarians eagerly followed, especially in the second third, and thus laid the foundation for their victory against the leaders. The Wolves didn't present themselves badly and found their way into the goal three times through Arvin Atwal, Rick Schofield and Daniel Catenacci. But this rebellion came too late, as the wolves were always a long way behind. The highlights of the game Fehervar begins Daniel Leavens grabs an abandoned target in the middle third, storms into the Pustertal zone and hits the goal with a clean wrist shot to make it 1-0 (15.28). Laberge on the power play Pascal Laberge gets far too much space and time on the left and can calmly pick the gap in Jake Smith's defense. Kuralt raises, Atwal counters Once again the Hungarians find a solution for the Pusterer defensive block. Markus Phillips passes the disc to Kuralt on the left, who nets into the half-empty goal (32.59). Just seconds later, Arvin Atwal scored the first goal for the HCP with a shot on the move after Mikael Frycklund found the gap in the Fehervar defense and fed his teammate - (33.24). Schofield creates tension This time it is Schofield who scores for Pustertal. Frycklund shoots the puck from the blue line towards the goal and the Canadian deflects the puck into the goal to make it 4:2 (52.59). Leclerc destroys the HCP's hopes Leclerc scores from a tight angle to make it 5:2 for Fehervar – (56.52). Result cosmetics Daniel Catenacci scored to make it 3:5, but the Puster team's comeback came too late - (59.39). Nevertheless, Pustertal remains at the top of the table. But slowly but surely the Wolves feel the breath of several teams breathing down their necks. In a week on Saturday there will be another chance against the Vienna Capitals to continue collecting important points in the fight for the top of the table.
