Furious start, even more furious end: A crazy HCB victory

The Foxes beat Fehervar 7:4 and have warmed up for the derby: On Tuesday at 19.45 p.m. there will be the eagerly awaited third meeting with HC Pustertal in the Sparkasse Arena. The Wolves played well against Klagenfurt on Sunday, but suffered a defeat after a penalty.

The HCB, whose captain Daniel Frank was missing due to an injury (but it should be enough for Tuesday), and the physically strong guests from Hungary fought a thrilling duel on Sunday in which almost all the goals came either at the very beginning or at the very end. After just three minutes it was 2-1 for the guests, while six goals were scored in the last eight minutes.

While on Fehervar's side, the two ex-Bolzano players Alex Petan and Brett Findlay kept Andy Bernard busy (he was preferred), the HCB had a defender in an unusual role. Mike Dalhuisen, the baddest boy in the league with 87 penalty minutes, shone on Sunday with three points (two assists, one goal) and no penalty minutes. Mike Halmo rewarded himself with a goal on his 200th appearance for the Foxes - and an important one at that, as his 2-2 after half an hour marked the turning point. Halmo's anger Bolzano is building up more pressure with every minute, but initially Fehervar goalie Olivier Roy makes the Foxes despair. Then anniversary man Mike Halmo (200th HCB game) packs all his anger into a slapshot and makes it 2-2 (32nd). Topsy-turvy After a Dalhuisen finish, Daniel Mantenuto steers the disc into the net to make it 3-2 for Bozen (41'). It is the start of a furious final phase in which both teams drop all shackles: six goals are scored in the last eight minutes! Bolzano's victory is never in danger: 4:2, 4:3, 5:3, 6:3, 6:4, 7:4 - that's the sequence. Particularly worth seeing is Christian Thomas' start, but also Dustin Gazley's brace. Great gesture The former Bolzano players Brett Findlay (two goals that evening) and Alex Petan (one goal) are celebrated by the HCB fans after the final siren.

Eleven goals in one game: That's not an everyday occurrence, even in a sport as high in goals as ice hockey. On Sunday afternoon, the fans in the Bozner Sparkasse Arena were treated to this goal spectacle - with an HCB that left the ice as the winner in the end.
