ICE playoffs: Fans have to remember these dates

The playoffs are considered the fifth season of ice hockey. On Sunday the time has come in the ICE Hockey League. There was a little surprise at the match dates for the quarter-finals.

Pustertal against Fehervar, Bolzano against Villach: These are the quarter-final matches for the South Tyrolean ICE clubs. While the HCB was able to prepare for the playoffs in peace and quiet over the past few days, the HCP experienced a real roller coaster ride of emotions The overtime win in the third pre-playoff game against Olimpija Ljubljana culminated.

Bozen starts its best-of-7 series against Villach with the home advantage, meaning: in a possible Game 7, the Foxes can play in front of their own audience. HC Pustertal first has to earn such a home advantage in the series against Fehervar. On Friday, the league announced the key dates for the quarter-final duels.

Pustertal in alternative mode

The little surprise: Fehervar and Pustertal use the option of using the H/H/A/A format for their series. The pairing begins with back-to-back games in Hungary on Sunday and Monday. Matches three and four will then be played on Thursday and Friday in Bruneck.

This saves both teams an away trip, as there are almost 700 kilometers between Bruneck and Székesfehérvár. Possible further games then follow the original pattern again, i.e. from Pustertal's perspective: away, at home, away. All other quarter-final matches will be played in the tried and tested format (alternating one game at home and one away).
