Man of 100 goals: He shoots Bozen up

HC Bozen is getting a taste of the high air! With their fourth win in a row, the Foxes are moving ever closer to the top of the table. The home victory against Linz was a real celebration for one player in particular.

He has played 293 times for Bolzano, assisted 138 goals and now scored 100 goals himself. We are talking about the soon-to-be 37-year-old Dustin GazleyThe long-time favorite shot HCB Südtirol Alperia to a hard-fought 3-2 victory against the Black Wings Linz. Afterwards, he was celebrated by the fans for minutes.

The Foxes had previously played some impressive hockey in their second home game in 48 hours, but they also made a few lapses. The result? The Linzers, plagued by setbacks and severely weakened by injury (five regulars were missing), kept the game open for a long time.

In the end, it was thanks to Bozen's outstanding quality and iron discipline that all three points remained in South Tyrol. Once again, not a single Foxes player was sent to the penalty box, meaning the White and Reds now have only three minor penalties in three matches. Harvey sealed the deal at the back after a slight wobble on the first goal, while his forwards gained more and more momentum towards the opposing goal as the game progressed.

Frigo's sensational start to the season

In addition to Gazley, another veteran made a particularly strong impression: Luca Frigo. The 32-year-old from Piedmont, who has been playing in Bolzano for nine years, became the match winner with a late solo effort. He scored his third goal and his fourth point overall in just five league matches. An evergreen, just like Gazley.

The key moments

Double BockThe Black Wings were unable to get anything done on their own for a long time, and so the HCB attacked them: Barberio made a bad pass during the build-up, and the puck went to Knott, whose shot slipped under Harvey's shin guard.
Double cheersBuoyed by the deficit, Bolzano threw everything forward – with success. Gazley scored his 100th goal for Bolzano with a powerful slap shot on the power play (26th minute), and Schneider added a touch shortly afterwards to make it 2-1 (32nd minute).
Double shockShortly after Bolzano's first lead, there was a great murmur through the arena twice, namely when Romig equalized with a hidden shot to make it 2-2 (33') and a little later Frigo failed to push the ball over the red line from two meters away from the goal.
Simple FrigoThe HCB's best-performing player finally redeemed the 2.500 spectators: Luca Frigo perfectly completed a counterattack by crossing in front of the opposing goalie and scoring the 3-2 while falling (50th minute).

Bolzano is now two points behind second-place Salzburg (with one game in hand). HCB can move ahead of them with an away win against the champions on Friday. At the same time, HC Pustertal, which has a free Sunday, also faces a tough challenge in Szekesfehervar.
