The defenseman collapsed on the ice during a playoff game for Klagenfurt in early March after suffering a cardiac arrest and had to be resuscitated. A defibrillator was implanted in the 33-year-old. As KAC announced on Tuesday, the Canadian will not return to the club and will end his playing career.
“I’m pleased to announce that I’m completely healthy again and that the incident in March left me with no lasting damage,” Murray was quoted as saying in a statement released by Klagenfurt. He reported that he got engaged a month ago. “Without our club doctors Hannes (Florianz) and Günther (Bachler), I wouldn’t have been able to propose.”
Leading a normal life
He will be forever grateful to the doctors and all the other medical professionals who have supported him on this journey. "The end of my career isn't happening the way I would have liked, but I'm very happy that I was able to play this sport for so long and that I'm now healthy enough to lead a normal life from this point on," Murray said.Edit Profile
