Next HCB victory: When Vienna's old love goes astray
HC Bozen continues to rush from victory to victory! Goalie Sam Harvey and a former Viennese player led the ICE league leaders to their next success in the Austrian capital.

The season in the ICE Hockey League is still young, the decisive games are all still to come and some teams are still in their "summer hibernation". It would therefore be premature to draw a conclusion. And yet it is worth noting: HC Bozen is really fun! This was clearly demonstrated to almost 2 spectators on Sunday when the Foxes won 0-4.500 in Vienna-Kagran.
In a tough, at times overly tough match in the Steffl Arena, the Bozen team not only struck with fists, checks and physical force, but also with goals. The decisive moment in a long, evenly matched showdown with the Caps was the 1:0 goal by Matt Bradley, when Bozen were playing with a man down.
Sam Harvey, the Sorcerer
For the offensive star, it was the first appearance in Vienna since his move from the Danube metropolis to the DEL in the summer of 2023. Before that, he had been the celebrated hero of the Caps fans for a year and a half, having caused a real wave of euphoria with an incredible 104 points in 89 games.Matt Bradley met at his old stomping ground.
Now Bradley plunged his old love into defeat. After the 1-0, HCB goalie Sam Harvey shut the doors. He defused all 35 shots from the Viennese and celebrated his second shutout in the third game of the season.
Few goals, many penalties
The gloves fly | In the middle period, the waves rose several times: First, Luca Frigo got into a fight with Jason Willms, then Cristiano DiGiacinto and Daniel Mantenuto got into a fight with the Viennese Nikolaus Hartl and Patrick Antal. In the final third, Cole Hults and Dylan DiPerna on one side and Jack Dougherty on the other side also had to go to the penalty box because of fights. |
The gates are falling | Ice hockey is also played between the tough encounters: Matt Bradley finishes off a shorthanded counterattack with a shot into the near corner (35th minute), Mantenuto increases the score to 2-0 with a shot into the corner (48th minute). |
The posts clatter | Vienna's best chance to equalize was missed by Aljaz Predan, who hit the post from close range in the closing stages. Earlier, on the other side, Hults had shot the ball into the crossbar. The score remained 2-0. |
Bozen is now going into the third week of the championship with a full haul of twelve points from four games. The next match is on Friday with the home game against Asiago. HC Pustertal is already visiting Salzburg on Wednesday. The Wolves have to make amends, they suffered their third defeat of the season this Sunday with a 2-1 loss in Ljubljana.
