Spectacle in Bolzano: These foxes are fun!

This weekend, HCB Südtirol Alperia returned to the Sparkasse Arena. In the grand final of the Summer Classic, the Foxes put on a spectacular show against Red Bull Munich on Sunday evening.

Red Bull Munich won the sixth edition of the South Tyrol Summer Classic. The Munich team defeated HCB Südtirol Alperia 2-1, turning the game on its head in the final stages. HCB can be satisfied with their performance, however, as they took the lead in the first period and controlled the game for much of the second.

For coach Karhula, despite the bitter defeat, there are extremely positive signs from this high-class test match. In the third-place game, Lausanne prevailed 5-1 against Grenoble, thus securing third place in the tournament.

HCB was able to field its strongest lineup on Sunday, with one exception: goalie Louis Domingue remains sidelined. The Foxes took the lead in the 18th minute: Schneider made a spectacular break and set up McClure, who fired the puck under the crossbar. While the match had been back and forth up to that point, the second period saw Bolzano put on a great show. The Red and Whites displayed superb hockey in the first ten minutes, creating numerous scoring opportunities, but failed to capitalize. Munich then struck back, but goalie Costantini was in top form.

Winning goal 33 seconds before the end

In the final period, the Red Bulls finally broke the deadlock. Ehliz surprised goalie Costantini with a mid-range shot, which Costantini let slip under his pad to tie the game 1-1 (55th minute). With 33 seconds remaining, Eisenschmid scored the game-winning goal, assisted by Ehliz, bringing the thrilling contest to a close.

The Foxes' preseason training continues on Wednesday evening at 8:30 p.m. with a game against HC Gherdëina at the Pranives arena. Next weekend, the Hansjörg Brunner Memorial tournament takes place at the MeranArena. There, HCB will face Meran (Saturday at 8:30 p.m.) and the Starbulls Rosenheim (Sunday at 6:00 p.m.).
