HC Falkensteiner Pustertal is ready for the upcoming season in the ICE Hockey League (ICEHL). On Wednesday, the Wolves announced the contract extensions of two key local players.

According to reports, Ivan Deluca and Matthias Mantinger will continue their goal-scoring spree for the Wolves next season. The duo, who moved to Bruneck in 2021, will be entering their sixth season with HCP, whose roster now boasts 13 forwards. Given this, the offensive lineup is likely nearly complete, as the last remaining import slot is reserved for the defense.

The forward duo, who held their own on the fourth line last season, will play an even more important role in the Wolves' structure following the departure of captain Raphael Andergassen. "After last season's playoffs, everyone is hungry for more. The euphoria that permeated the entire valley for weeks was unparalleled. The atmosphere in the stadium was pure goosebumps. Our fans always stood behind us, no matter what happened, which is why I'm all the more pleased to remain a Puster Valley native," Mantinger emphasizes.

“I am very pleased to be able to continue playing for you Puschtra,” Deluca explained.

Both Mantinger, from Kaltern, and Deluca, a year younger from Sterzing, received their training with the Wipptal Broncos – with the difference that the latter moved to the ICEHL with HC Bolzano at the age of 21. Mantinger, on the other hand, had to wait until he was 25 before getting his chance. Since then, he has collected 65 points in 274 games. Deluca has 69 points after 404 games.

The boss is full of praise.

“We are delighted to have secured the services of two key local players, Matthias and Ivan, who have consistently delivered outstanding work for HCP for many years,” emphasizes President Erich Falkensteiner. “We need role models and are very proud to have these two young men in the club, as they are exemplary examples of attitude and hard work for every young player.”
